EP #041: The Art of Posting with Consistency (Even When You’re Busy)
One of the biggest mistakes I see executives make on LinkedIn is posting inconsistently.
They’ll get excited, post three times in a week… and then disappear for six months.
If you’re serious about using LinkedIn to grow your brand and attract the right opportunities, consistency matters.
Today, I’ll break down how to stay consistent on LinkedIn—even when you’re busy.
🔹 Why Posting Consistently Matters
The reality is, most of your audience won’t see your posts.
The LinkedIn algorithm moves fast, and the average post has about 18 hours of visibility. If you’re posting once a month, you’re barely showing up.
More importantly: Your network is full of people who already know, like, and trust you.
They just aren’t thinking about you.
When you post consistently, you stay top of mind—so when someone needs what you offer, you’re the first person they think of.
🔹 How Often Should You Post?
I talk to 600+ executives a year about LinkedIn, and here’s what I see:
Most CEOs post 4 times a year (usually big company milestones).
The ideal frequency is 1-5 times per week.
More posts = disproportionate results. (Four posts don’t just get 2x the engagement of two posts—they get 4-5x the impact.)
But consistency matters more than frequency.
I’d rather see you post once a month consistently than post three times next week and disappear for six months.
🔹 How to Post Consistently (Even When You’re Busy)
Most executives struggle with LinkedIn because they don’t know what to post.
Here’s how to fix that:
✔ Batch content:
• Set aside one hour a month to write 4-5 posts.
• Even better: Hop on Zoom, record answers to key questions, and have your team turn that into posts.
✔ Follow the 80/20 rule:
• 80% of your content should educate and add value (stories, insights, lessons learned).
• 20% can promote your company, milestones, or services.
✔ Steal from yourself:
• The best LinkedIn content comes from conversations you’re already having.
• If you say something insightful to a client, team member, or friend—write it down. That’s your next post.
✔ Use the “5-Minute Rule”
• Set a timer for 5 minutes.
• Write a LinkedIn post.
• Post it—imperfectly.
• Done is better than perfect.
🚀 Action Step:
Before you close this email, set a 5-minute timer and write one LinkedIn post.
Here are 3 prompts to get you started:
1️⃣ What’s one lesson you’ve learned in your career that most people get wrong?
2️⃣ What’s a mistake you made—and what did you learn from it?
3️⃣ What’s something obvious to you that your audience doesn’t know?
Hit post. Even if no one responds, it’s a win.
